With such spacious amounts of time spent sitting and snuggling, I’ve had a lot of time to think about this new chapter of my life, and what it means. Specifically, it got me thinking about what mothers "do."

Van Edwards' talk was about telling the truth. Or, in other words, dispelling “The Swan Effect.” What’s the Swan Effect? It refers to the idea that, on the surface, you see a beautiful swan gliding peacefully across the water, but – just under the surface, ugly feet are paddling like crazy. Because that’s how successful people (or at least the inspiring, relatable successful people) become successful. Their journey has some ugly bits and a whole lot of work goes into propelling them from Point A to B.
Lewis’ unexpected good fortune – striking it big as a travel and language guru – prompted him to speak about “luck.” Also, he’s Irish, so there’s that. But here’s the thing…
Benny Lewis a skeptic. He doesn’t believe in the power of luck or fate or destiny.
I ended up at WDS thanks to Live Your Legend (a movement similar to TheMillionTo1Club) that I follow on FB. Live Your Legend said write a FB post. I did. I won a ticket. We had two weeks to figure out how to get to Portland, so Jeff travel-hacked his heart out with scary cheap plane tickets, two Airbnbs, and a $40 yellow Fiat. The rest is history.

1. Stop Multitasking (Seriously. Stop it.) When we multitask, what we’re really doing is “task-switching,” according to psychologist Guy Winch, PhD and author. When it comes to a human’s capacity to pay attention, we are either narrowing our attention to focus on details, such as when we study for an exam, or we are skimming the pages to search for key points at the expense of missing those important details.
What I’m Learning at the Moment: Life is happening all the time, not only when I’m accomplishing the things I want to accomplish. Seems obvious, right? As long as you’re alive, your life is happening - it’s part of the story. But I don’t always feel like that’s true.
Sometimes you just lose your mojo. You get tired, frustrated, grumpy, sad, overwhelmed, or you're just done. It sucks, but don’t sweat it because it happens to everyone, and you can fix it.
First, you have to figure out what you’re missing. A lack of inspiration is probably the result of:
1. Not enough rest 2. Not enough play 3. Not enough support 4. Not enough vision
